Test Lead-Microsoft's Edge Computing Network Team
The Edge Computing Network team (ECN) is looking for a talented, motivated, and highly technical Test Lead to help build the Edge Computing Network, a key platform that enables Microsoft’s Live and other on-line properties to serve their customers with better performance, higher quality, and increased reliability and security. You will have the opportunity to create a global, fundamental service necessary for the next generation of web applications. Our team will change the way developers build for the web and will impact more than 500 million unique users around the world. We are looking for an experienced Test Lead that will lead and grow a great team of software test engineers and manage outsourced testing.In this role, you will help develop a flexible, planetary-scale computation platform for use by Microsoft’s various web properties. You will work with Development and Program Management to create and execute thorough test plans and schedules, select appropriate testing tools and resources, and write specifications for test cases and testing scripts to ensure a high-quality customer experience with all of our releases. You will monitor test bugs, triage and assign bugs, and identify appropriate resources for bug resolution. You will also help determine the merits and costs of new features for future releases.You will play a major part in growing our test organization. You will work closely with teams across MSN Global Foundation Services, Windows Live, MSN, and Microsoft.com to ensure the services we build support their needs for development, deployment, management, monitoring, and operations of software components they build for the ECN. This is a growing team with significant opportunities for the right person!Job Responsibilities:• Based on product and service specifications, design and specify tests and test tools which ensure the proper functioning of the ECN in development and in deployment • Establish test reporting practices for targeted audiences (dev, PM) • Manage outsourced testing resources and schedules • Help grow a solid test organizationQualifications: • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience • At least 4 years STE or SDE-T experience, with at least 2 years experience as a Lead • Experience shipping software on a fast-paced, phased release schedule (at least one cycle) • Demonstrated ability to estimate effort & dates and to deliver on those estimates • Strong passion for product quality and for customer satisfaction • Experience with Web Services, C/C++, scripting, software integration • Pluses: experience with PowerShell / .NET / C#, understanding of distributed computing
